"Each flower is a soul opening out to nature."
~~Gerard De Nerval~~
"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever."
It's the one you wait all winter for.
That first spring walk in the woods.
And even though there are only small patches of color,
even the browns and grays of the winter that has passed,
somehow seem more vibrant.
Spring is arriving very slowly in New York this year.
Each time the early spring flowers begin to peek through the soil, they are blanketed in yet more snow.
But they continue to try.
The Pussy Willows are one of the very first to announce that no matter how much snow, or how cold,
it's time to welcome spring.
